---- — FREMONT — Betty Miller, 83, of West Burlington, formerly of Fremont, died Sept. 22, 2013, at the Hospice House in West Burlington.
She was born Sunday, Sept. 14, 1930, in Oskaloosa, the daughter of John and Marcella Maughan Kilfoil. She graduated from J. Sterling Morton High School in Cicero, Ill. Following school, she went to work as a nurse's aide in Berwyn, Ill. In 1951, Betty was united in marriage to Richard Stock, and they later divorced. On Oct.10, 1953, she was united in marriage to Raymond Miller in Fremont, and he died Oct. 6, 2001. Following her marriage to Raymond, Betty stayed at home to raise her family. She enjoyed crocheting, camping with Ray, watching TV, playing games with her grandchildren and spending time with her family.
Her family includes a son, Rick (Darla) Miller of Marshalltown; two daughters, Karlene Carr and Teri (Tim) Eagen, all of West Burlington; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and her twin sister, Beverly Cowman.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Cedar Township Memorial Cemetery in Fremont; Rev. Bill Hornback officiating. A procession will form at the Fremont Funeral Chapel at 11 a.m. for those wishing to go to the cemetery. Burial will be in the Cedar Township Cemetery.
No visitation is planned.
As was her wish, her body has been cremated.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Great River Hospice in West Burlington.
