---- — OTTUMWA — Robert M. Loos, 87, of Sun City, Ariz., formerly of Ottumwa, died October 17, 2013, at Hospice of the Valley, Sun City, Ariz.

He was born July 24, 1926, in Hedrick to Raymond Frederick and Mary May Dean Loos. He married Doris E. Welch on April 2, 1954. She preceded him in death on July 4, 2004.

Bob was a World War II veteran and received the Victory Medal Army of Occupation Medal Japan.

In his lifetime, he was a member of the St. Olaf Choir; he always loved music. Bob was a salesman for Fuller Brush and won an award for the top salesman of the year while selling. Bob continued to be a salesman all of his life; he never knew a stranger. He worked for Vigortone and was asked to move from Iowa to Kentucky to help make the company grow. Grow it did to his efforts, Bob became the top salesman for Bowling Green, Ky. After retiring, he started a part-time job of preparing taxes with H&R Block. He then decided to be his own boss and prepare taxes for the next 20 years.

Bob retired and moved to Arizona after the death of his wife of 50 years, Doris. He resided with his daughter, Mary. He enjoyed playing golf and dominos and feeding the birds and rabbits at his house. He would go through 25 pounds of carrots and 15 pounds of seed in a week to be able to watch them.

Surviving are three daughters, Christine Jacobs of Kansas City, Mo., Mary Loos of Sun City, Ariz., and Susan Dobson of Lebanon, Tenn.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Barnett officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery with military services conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion.

Visitation begins at 1 p.m. Tuesday with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in his name to St. Olaf College Viking Choir in Northfield, Minn.
