OTTUMWA — Wilma Elnora Louise Bales, 91, of 2 Pennsylvania Place, died at 2:52 p.m. October 25, 2013, at The Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa.
She was born February 19, 1922, in rural Milton, Iowa, to Henry Allen and Minnie Wilma Williamson Edgington. She married Leo F. Bales on September 27, 1942. He preceded her in death on March 27, 1980.
A graduate of Milton Public School in 1939, she had worked as a receptionist in the office of Dr. Paul Jones.
Wilma had attended Miller Chapel. She had been a volunteer at The Good Samaritan Society – Ottumwa and was past president of United Foursquare Women. Wilma enjoyed sewing and her plants.
Surviving are a sister-in-law, Mary Edgington, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Clyde, Dale, Bernard and infant Vern Edgington; two sisters, Pauline Stafford and Ruth Green; two stepsisters, Wilma Briner and Glenys Jenkins; her stepfather, Clarence Houser.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Mel Kendall officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
Visitation begins at 10 a.m. today with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
