OTTUMWA — Lois Ann Overturf, 98, formerly of Ottumwa, died at 7:02 a.m. November 2, 2013, at her home in Ankeny.
She was born June 28, 1915, in Nampa, Idaho, to John W. and Margaret Houk Hunt, the youngest of seven children. She married Marvin D. Overturf June 2, 1937, in Danville, Ill. He preceded her in death June 15, 1998.
She resided in Ottumwa until recently moving with her daughter and son-in-law to Ankeny in 2007.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Emmett (Bonnie) Overturf of Ottumwa and Shirley Birchmier of Ankeny; seven grandchildren; 17 great- grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; three sisters; her son-in-law, Jerry Birchmier and her daughter-in-law, Mary Overturf.
Per her request, graveside services and burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Memorial Lawn Cemetery with Pastor Mel Kendall officiating.
Visitation will be open after 11 a.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home. Visitation with the family present will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Macular Degeneration Foundation for research or Unity Point Hospice in Des Moines.
All of those who knew her will remember her as a remarkable lady.
