Jacqueline Anderson

OTTUMWA — Jacqueline Lou "Jackie" Baker Anderson, 87, of Ottumwa, passed away on Nov. 8, 2013, at Vista Woods Care Center.

Jacqueline was born Aug. 28, 1926, in Ottumwa, the daughter of D. Neil Baker and Frances Lucille Haines Baker. She graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1944 and from Iowa State University in 1948. Jackie met Glen Anderson of Britt while in college at Ames, and they were married on June 19, 1949, in the First Presbyterian Church in Ottumwa.

Jackie and Glen raised their three children on the family farm, which they operated their entire married life. The center of Jackie's life was her family. Jackie worked many years at Indian Hills Community College and retired as the registrar at the college. She was a member of the Willings Circle Kings Daughters, Good Sam Camping Club and P.E.O. Chapter G. She served on the Pennsylvania Place Regional Retirement Living Board. Jackie had been a member of the First Presbyterian Church for 64 years.

Glen and Jackie enjoyed spending their winters in Casa Grande, Ariz., for several years. They also enjoyed traveling with their camping club, square dancing, round dancing, playing bridge and spending time with family and friends.

Jackie is survived by her husband, Glen of Ottumwa; one daughter Debbie (Greg) Wanzek of Cedar Rapids and two sons, Ron (Cynthia) Anderson of Bettendorf and Neil (Charlene) Anderson of Ottumwa; grandchildren Melissa (Brent) MacLagan, Mike (Jenny) Wanzek, Rachel (Ronnie) Knutsen, Jeremy (Valerie) Knutsen, Jason Knutsen, Lucas (Barbara) Anderson, Linsey (Bucky) Krueger, Chuck Jorgensen, Amanda (Mike) Johnson; and great-grandchildren Jack, Amara, Brandon, Natalie, Dylan, Kimber (Matt), Karl (Jenni), Stephanie (Lucas), Liana, Gracie Lee, Tyler, Allessya, Nevaeh; and great-great-grandchildren, Jeremiah, Aveda, Irianna and Ariah.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial services to celebrate Jackie's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the First Presbyterian Church; Rev. David Klanderman officiating. Burial will be in Ottumwa Cemetery. Reception to follow downstairs at the church.

Open visitation begins at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Robertson-Jay Funeral Home. The family will be present from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Jackie's name to the First Presbyterian Church of Ottumwa, to the Indian Hills Community College Foundation or to Hospice Serving Davis and Wapello Counties.
