OTTUMWA — Marcella Valeska Alexander, 94, passed away April 12, 2014, surrounded by family at her home in Richmond, Texas.
She was born in Ottumwa on July 18, 1919, to Edward and Minnie Stiles. She was a devoted homemaker, a loving and understanding wife, a nurturing mother and a doting grandmother. During her life, she was an active church member and a member of both the American Legion Auxiliary and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her oldest daughter, Jeanenne Tucker; and her son, Richard Alexander and wife Corinne. Survivors also include grandchildren Steven Edwards, Anginine (Edwards) Sutera, Richard Alexander Jr., Caite (Pedersen) Ingersoll, Nicholas Alexander and Jesse Pedersen; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her loving husband of 54 years, Clarence W. Alexander; her youngest daughter, Deanna L. Alexander (Pedersen); and six brothers and sisters.
Graveside service for Mrs. Alexander will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg, Texas, with a reception following at the First Presbyterian Church of Sugar Land.
