OTTUMWA — Daniel Harold McKee, 84, formerly of 301 E. Highland, died at 6:30 p.m. April 11, 2014, at West Ridge Nursing and Rehab Center in Knoxville.
He was born June 5, 1929, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Fred and Deena Kuyper McKee. He married Mildred Brown on July 20, 1956.
A graduate of Mentor High School in Cleveland, Ohio, and of Midwestern School of Evangelism in Ottumwa, Dan served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He had served as an evangelist in the Church of Christ in Mentor, Ohio, North Platte, Neb., as well as many churches in the Ottumwa area. He retired as a med aide at the Wapello County Home. He and his wife served as foster parents for many children.
Dan was a member of The Church at Fourth and Washington streets in Ottumwa.
Surviving are his wife, Mildred of Knoxville; a son, Danny (Jill) McKee of Bloomfield; two daughters, Jenny (Bill) Johnstone of Ottumwa and Jane (Pat) Stockton of Knoxville; 12 grandchildren, David and Caleb Stockton, Tricia Worrall, Weston, Maxton, Danilea and Addie McKee, Christopher, Bethanne, Kevin, Daniel and Todd Johnstone; 18 great-grandchildren; a brother, Dick (Betty) McKee of Ohio.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bob and Lawrence McKee; two sisters, Marion Lewis and Eleanor Karpiak.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with Gary Cradic officiating. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery in Kirkville with military services conducted by O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion and Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
