---- — KEOSAUQUA — Lloyd C. Balmer, 75, of rural Keosauqua, died at 7:10 p.m. April 11, 2014, at home.

He was born Dec. 19, 1938, near Memphis, Mo., to Harry and Flossie Kittle Balmer and married Carolyn McClaran June 10, 1964, at Lancaster, Mo.

Lloyd graduated from Cantril High School, farmed, worked at Douds Stone, Inc. and Dexter Co., Fairfield. He served in the U.S. Army and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and enjoyed watching sports events.

Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Brenda McDowell of Birmingham and Kelly Schmitter (Rob) of Douds; two sons, John Stutzman in Arizona and Chris Balmer (Mikki) of Keosauqua; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Balmer of Keosauqua.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Eric McDowell.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua; Jason Mott officiating. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery.

Visitation will open at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the family present from 6-8 p.m.

Memorials to Good Samaritan Hospice may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 19429 240th St. Keosauqua, Iowa 52565.
