OTTUMWA — Michael L. “Mick” Winblade, 69, of 18 Kingsley Drive, died at 10:50 p.m. April 13, 2014, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
He was born May 16, 1944, in Ottumwa to Howard and Mildred Engstrom Winblade. He married Janice Thies on January 17, 1987.
A graduate of Ottumwa High School, Mick had attended Parsons College and was a member of the high school and college golf teams. He had served with the Iowa Army National Guard.
Mick had worked for the Ottumwa Fire Department, at Lake Wapello and worked in maintenance for 10 years at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
Mick was a member of Second Chance Motorcycle Club and he loved music, especially Pink Floyd and Eagles. He enjoyed animals, gardening, landscaping and woodworking.
Surviving are his wife, Janice; three daughters, Mary Jane (Troy) Bunnell, Melanie (Marty) Brouillette and Melissa Underwood; a son, Lane (Liz) Winblade; three stepchildren, Michael (Sarah) Donaldson, Kimberly Donaldson and Kristin (Wes) McCoy; 14 grandchildren; and a brother, John (Connie) Winblade.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
His body has been cremated.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with his cousin, Ron Engstrom officiating. Inurnment will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
The family will be present one hour prior to the service.
