OTTUMWA — Ruth Elaine Buchholz, 77, of 2425 Folkways Blvd., Apt. 142, Lincoln, Neb., formerly of Ottumwa, died June 15, 2013, at the Nebraska Heart Hospital in Lincoln.
She was born Oct. 18, 1935, in Blakesburg to Leroy and Lois Ratliff Blumer. She married Darrell Gene Buchholz on Jan. 15, 1954.
A graduate of Ottumwa High School, she lived in Ottumwa until moving to Colorado in 1972, then back to Ottumwa in 1998, and then to Lincoln, Neb., to be close to family in 2005.
She had worked at J.C. Penney and as a ward secretary at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Denver.
She had been a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Ottumwa Baptist Temple and was currently a member of Temple Baptist in Lincoln, Neb.
Surviving are her husband, Gene; three sons and a daughter, Greg (Diana) Buchholz of Lincoln, Neb., Randy (Dona) Buchholz of Chugwater, Wyo., Chris (Roxann) Buchholz of Lincoln, Neb., and Peggy (Jay) Banchor of Thornton, Colo.; 13 grandchildren, Melissa, Jesse, Tim, Rebekah, Justin, Shane, Roxanna, Debbie, Christopher, Allison, Kella, Tracy and Raymond; 18 great-grandchildren; two brothers, George (Doris) Blumer and Larry Blumer, both of Ottumwa; and a sister, Gladys (Junior) Wilcox of Ottumwa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Lois Blumer; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Blumer.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Ottumwa Baptist Temple with Rev. Randy Miller officiating. Burial will be in McCormick Cemetery near Highland Center.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday.
