OTTUMWA — Rev. Loyal C. Hepker, 87, formerly of 2701 E. Main St., died 8:17 a.m. June 9, 2013 at Mercy Hospital Springfield in Springfield, Mo.

He was born Feb. 1, 1926, near West Grove to Raymond and Alta Stufflebeam Hepker. He married Lanore Garmon on Nov. 15, 1946, in Drakesville.

Having served in the U.S. Army during World War II, he worked 17 years at John Morrell and Co. and had worked as a carpenter. He had served for a short time as the pastor at Bunch Pentecostal Church of God. He then served for 50 years in Ottumwa as the pastor of East End Pentecostal Church of God, where he was also a member.

He had been a member of Pentecostal Church of God International since 1956 and had worked as a volunteer for Indian Missions helping to build over 200 churches.

Surviving are his wife Lanore of Nixa, Mo; a daughter, Martha Stufflebeam of North Richland Hills, Texas; two granddaughters, Rhonda Wensel of Springfield, Mo., and Nicole (Alan) Shinebarger of Nixa, Mo.; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jack Hepker of Rock Falls, Ill., and Lloyd Hepker of Kirksville, Mo.; two sisters, Martha Woodsmall of Mt. Pleasant and Gracie Johnson of Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Boyd Hepker and Richard Hepker; and two sisters, Goldie Glazier and Dorothy Glover.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Mosier officiating. Military services will be conducted by O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion and Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars. Burial will be in West Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will begin after 5 p.m. Friday with the family present from 7-9 p.m. Friday.

Memorials may be made to the Pentecostal Church of God or Indian Missions Department, processed through East End Pentecostal Church of God.
