MARTINSBURG — Eugene Jones, 67, died Sept. 16, 2013, at Serenity Hospice in Oskaloosa.
Eugene was born March 16, 1946, in Oskaloosa, the son of Floyd H. and Eileen E. Ferns Jones. He graduated from Pekin High School in 1965. Following graduation, he worked at Hayesville Lumber, Fairfield Aluminum and John Deere Ottumwa Works, retiring from there in 1999. He was united in marriage to Juanita Conger in Richland June 6, 1965.
Eugene enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, arrow head and relic hunting, woodworking and spending the winters in Arizona. His greatest love was his family and his constant companion "Buffy."
Eugene is survived by his wife, Juanita of Martinsburg; his son, Gene and his wife Tina of Ollie; two grandchildren, Cody and Heidi, both of Ollie; a stepgranddaughter, Tiffany Hummell; a stepgreat-granddaughter, Gracie; a sister, Caroline Seaba and her husband Donald of Atalissa; many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a great-niece.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Fremont Funeral Chapel; Rev. Bill Hornback officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery near Martinsburg.
Visitation will open after noon on Wednesday at the funeral home with family present from 5-7 p.m.
