---- — ALBIA — Betty Jean Kint, 82, of Albia, passed away Sept. 17, 2013, under the care of Monroe County Hospice at Monroe Care Center in Albia.

Betty was born Nov. 21, 1930, to William and Amanda (Miller) Edmondson in Topeka, Kan. She married Eldie Kint June 15, 1948, at the Methodist Church in Allerton. They shared nearly 57 years together before his passing on April 24, 2005.

Betty graduated from Allerton High School. She worked as a bookkeeper for various businesses in Albia, including Pester Derby Gas Station, Belzer Equipment, Chamberlain’s, Monroe County Activity Center, Trinity United Methodist Church and Ragtime Industries for 26 years.

In 1968, Betty became a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Ruritan and Rebecca Clubs. She enjoyed square dancing, being outdoors camping, watching sprint car races in Knoxville and following Iowa Hawkeye basketball. She was a very good cook, especially when it came to fried chicken, and was a talented seamstress.

Betty is survived by her two children, Sherrie Caster of Albia and Randy (Marilynn) Kint of St. Charles; nine grandchildren, Kimberly Jones, Rene Fekete, Randall Todd Kint, Brandi Caster, Bryan Caster, Amanda Farrell, Tyler Kint, Kurtis Kint and Kayla Kint; 22 great-grandchildren, Davin, Megan, Nathan, Austin, Clay, Carson, Michael, Stephanie, Sadie, Randall Gregory, Haven, Justin, Andrew, Kaitlynn, Skyleigh, Starlynn, little Donnie, Chloe, Steven, Jacob, C.J. and Nicholas; a brother, Wayne (Maxine) Edmondson; two sisters-in-law, Ruby Kint and Lenora Marolf; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eldie; her parents, William and Amanda Edmondson; a sister, Wanda; a half brother; and three half sisters.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Tharp Funeral Home in Albia; Pastor Neil Montz officiating. Burial will follow in Allerton Cemetery in Allerton. The family wishes to invite everyone to a luncheon that will be from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to the service Saturday at the Family Life Center in Albia

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at Tharp Funeral Home in Albia with the family present from 6-8 p.m. As was Betty’s wish, her casket will remain closed during visitation and her body will be cremated following the visitation.
