---- — CENTERVILLE — Connie K. Golic, 70, of Centerville, passed away Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at the Centerville Nursing and Rehab Center in Centerville.

Connie was born in Centerville to James J. and Helen (Hamilton) McAninch. After graduating from Centerville High School in 1962, she married Gary Adams and moved to Kirksville, Mo. Gary was killed in a car accident in 1966. She moved back to Iowa, where she met and married Gary K. Golic on Oct. 7, 1967.

Connie first worked at Kirksville Missouri Printing Company. She later worked for Chariton Valley Medical Clinic and Iowa Southern Utilities. Connie spent the last 27 years of employment as the first female deputy for the Appanoose County Sherriff’s Office. She was a member of the East Pleasant Church of Christ, Cincinnati, Iowa, and Iowa Sheriff’s Deputy’s Association.

She loved country music and country dancing.

Connie is survived by her husband of 46 years, Gary. Also surviving are two children, Gary D. (Leeanna) Golic of Centerville and Sheila R. (Jason) Walker of Mapleton, Ill.; three grandchildren, Stephen D. Golic of Centerville, Corwin J. Walker and Spencer Walker of Mapleton, Ill. (the three loves of her life); her mother, Helen McAninch; and a brother, Max (Jo) McAninch, both of Ocala, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her father, James J. McAninch; and an infant son.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Lange Funeral Home & Crematory, Centerville; Pastor Eric Hoover officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Cincinnati, Iowa.

Friends may call all day today at the funeral home with the family present from 6-8 p.m.

A memorial has been established to the Appanoose County Little League Association and may be left or mailed to the Lange Funeral Home & Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
