OTTUMWA — Delphina Harriet Trout Bruns, 94, died at 11:08 a.m. December 1, 2013, at The Good Samaritan Society, Keosauqua.
She was born May 29, 1919, in Albia, Iowa, to Roscoe and Josephine Mahon Cosner. She married Donald M. Trout on October 22, 1941. He preceded her in death May 30, 1982. She married Henry Bruns in September 1983. He preceded her in death in August 2002.
Dell graduated from Albia High School in 1937. She moved to Ottumwa, where she and her husband owned and operated Trout’s Interior Decorating Service. She was a square dance caller for many years and travelled throughout the Midwest teaching and calling.
She was a member of East End Presbyterian Church where she was actively involved, having served as Sunday School Superintendent, teacher and song leader.
Surviving are two daughters, Karen (Don) Greene Wingate of Fairfield, Leslie (Daryl) McCreery of Clinton; a son, Ron (Sue) Trout of Omaha, Neb.; seven grandchildren, Tim Greene, Terry (Jacque) Greene, Brian (Deb) Greene, Tom (Ginette) Trout, Lori Trout, Chad (Amanda) Trout, Kyle (Laura) McCreery; a brother, Robert Cosner of Des Moines.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, Herb Greene; four sisters, Verla Funk, Georgia Allen, Velma Riley and Elizabeth Goodwin; four brothers, Roscoe Cosner Jr., Kenneth Cosner, Richard Cosner and Clarence Cosner.
Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Jane Martinez officiating. Burial will be in Ottumwa Cemetery.
Visitation is open at 11 a.m. Tuesday. The family will be present two hours prior to the service on Wednesday.
