---- — AGENCY — Leonard Charles Heston, 81, of 307 N. Ann St., died November 30, 2013, at his home.

He was born August 9, 1932, in rural Batavia to Fred and Mabel Black Heston.

Leonard was a graduate of Agency High School and lived on and farmed the family farm in rural Batavia. He worked 30 years for John Deere Ottumwa Works, retiring in 1980. He was an avid gardener and poker player.

Leonard was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #114.

Surviving are a son, Steven Heston (Becky) of Moline; four daughters, Linda Heston of Selma, Barb Hopwood (Ray) of Agency, Cathy Jobe of Bondurant, Marla Bettis of Ottumwa; eight grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Moffit of Blakesburg and Carolyn (Marvin) Snyder of Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Rhonda; two sisters, Helen Shelangoski and Lois Parker.

His body has been cremated.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Smith officiating. Inurnment will be in Batavia Cemetery.

Visitation with the family present will be one hour prior to the service.

Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren, Scott Schmidt, Kristina Swanson, Sara Dwight, Karrina Findley, Melanie Cribbs, Shelby Cain, Cody Van Eckhoutte and Cheyenne Phillips.

Memorials may be made to Magnolia Lodge #24 Independent Order of Odd Fellows of Agency or Batavia Community Center.
