KEOSAUQUA — Eston N. Woodruff, 92, formerly of Keosauqua, passed away Nov. 30, 2013, at Seasons Care Center, Kansas City, Mo.
He was born July 18, 1921, in Clark County, Mo., to Carl and Jessie Ward Woodruff and married Florence Adele Tweedy April 4, 1943, in Argyle, where they farmed until moving to Van Buren County in 1953. To this union were seven children, all of whom survive.
Eston farmed in rural Mt. Sterling for 30 years and retired to Keosauqua, where he continued to grow a large garden and sell produce. He was secretary-manager of Van Buren Mutual Insurance Co. of Keosauqua for nearly 20 years and was a member of Center Chapel United Methodist Church, rural Keosauqua.
Surviving are his children, Kenneth Woodruff of Independence, Mo., William (Kathy) Woodruff of Ottumwa, Norma (Alan) Mahon of Cantril, Nedra (Steve) Carruthers of Blue Springs, Mo., Mark (Donita) Woodruff of Keosauqua, Melody (Leland) Keller of Enid, Okla., and Margie (Kevin) Brown of Blue Springs, Mo. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and his wife’s brother and sister, David (Elsie) Tweedy, Elizabeth Dresser of rural Lee County.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years in 2001; his parents; two brothers, Allen and Stanley Woodruff; a sister, Almeta Kain; and a daughter-in-law, Lynn Woodruff.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Center Chapel United Methodist Church; Rev. Douglas Harding officiating with burial to follow in Center Chapel Cemetery.
Visitation with family present will be 1-2 p.m. Tuesday at the church prior to the service.
