---- — KIRKVILLE — Patricia June Waggoner, 82, of Kirkville, passed away peacefully December 2, 2013, at home.
She was born November 28, 1931, in Oskaloosa to John Franklin and Mildred Mae Furnald Edwards. She married Harold D. Waggoner on July 2, 1950, in Oskaloosa. He passed away on October 22, 1981.
Patricia graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1950. She worked in the Overall Factory in Oskaloosa, Walmart in Oskaloosa for 20 years and owned and operated Waggoner General Store in Kirkville since the 1960s. She was also city clerk for the city of Kirkville for many years and was an active member of the Kirkville United Methodist church. She and her husband owned and operated the Vita-Cide Mulch Company in Kirkville years ago. She was a member of the Eddyville Chapter #99 Order of Eastern Star and worked at the polls during many elections.
Patricia was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. She was dedicated to her church and loved her community. She was very generous and helped others whenever possible. She enjoyed visiting and exchanging light-hearted banter with the local people, and she was an avid reader. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by two sons, Harold (Patsy) Waggoner of Urbandale and Kevin (Michelle) Waggoner of Donnellson; a daughter, Nancy (Richard) Klodt of Ottumwa; nine grandchildren, Julie Lockhart, Kevin C. Waggoner, Joseph Klodt, Jonathan (Roxana) Klodt, Michael Waggoner, Jeffrey Klodt, Sarah Waggoner, Jennifer Klodt, Paderic Waggoner; two step-grandchildren, Jason Klodt and Justin (Mica) Klodt; a great-granddaughter, Anna Grace Lockhart; a sister, Betty (Don) McCreery of Oskaloosa; a brother, Mike (Ginny) Edwards of California; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Christopher Waggoner; five brothers, Emmett, John, Phillip, David and Robert Edwards; three sisters, Wanda (William) Miller, Mary (Phillip) Sheeley and Jean (Gordon) Bixby.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Van Weelden officiating. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery in Kirkville.
Visitation begins at 1 p.m. Wednesday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kirkville United Methodist Church, Eddyville Ecumenical Food Pantry or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
