FARSON — Donald S. Baker, 85, of Farson, died at 4:45 a.m. December 5, 2013, at home.
He was born November 1, 1928, in Crawfordsville, Iowa, to Sam A. and Fern May Baker. He married Alice Weppler November 25, 1956 in Lewis, Iowa.
A graduate of Richland High School, he served two years in the U.S. Army, having served in the Korean Conflict.
Donald worked road construction working as a blade operator. He owned and operated his own asphalt paving business, R and B Construction, having retired in 1994.
He was a member of Hedrick-Martinsburg United Methodist Church and Arendt-Bowlin-Stubbs Post #83 American Legion.
Surviving are his wife, Alice; a daughter, Glenda (Mark) Walker and their children, Ryan (Kayla), Nicole and Trenton; a son, Keith (Dorinda) Baker and their children, Tyrel and Emily; a son, Alvin (Jill) Baker and their children, Shalene, Lanessa, Maranda and Madelyn; and a daughter, Donelle Baker, all of Hedrick; two brothers-in-law, Harold Dickinson of Birmingham and Marlowe (Connie) Weppler of Lewis; two sisters-in-law, Rose Christensen of Lenox and Bev Weppler of Atlantic; along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, three sisters and two brothers-in-law.
His body has been cremated.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Hedrick-Martinsburg United Methodist Church with Rev. Carl Benge officiating. Military services will be conducted by Arendt-Bowlin-Stubbs Post #83 American Legion.
Inurnment will be in Compentine Cemetery at a later date.
