BLOOMFIELD — Patricia Ann Fleming Armstrong, 73, of Fountain Valley, Calif., and formerly of Bloomfield, died July 28, 2013, at Orange Coast Memorial Medical Center in Fountain Valley after a lengthy battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). Her loving family was by her side.
She was born March 30, 1940, in Bloomfield to Wray and Hazel (Townsend) Fleming. She graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1958. On Oct. 8, 1960, she married John Armstrong, son of Harlan and Evelyn (Klicker) Armstrong. She received her bachelor’s degree from Cal State Long Beach in 1983.
Patricia was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. As a U.S. Air Force wife, she traveled around the country with her husband and three daughters. She enjoyed painting, writing and singing. She always looked forward to visits from family and friends, and her eight grandchildren were one of her greatest joys. Her kind heart and positive outlook were appreciated by many, and her courageous battle against ALS gave her family the gift of 22 more years of memorable moments together.
She is survived by her devoted husband, John; three daughters, Sandra (Kelly) Koger, Donna (Troy) Seppelt and Judy White; eight grandchildren, Kelly and David Self and Michael and Cassie Koger, Brian and Kayla Seppelt, and Amy and Andy White; one brother, Wilbur Fleming; and one sister, Charlotte Waybill.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Leroy, Jack and Bob Fleming; and one sister, Christine Spurgeon. Another sister, Helen Hart, recently joined her on July 30, 2013.
Arrangements are being made for a later service in Bloomfield.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Davis County Dollars for Scholars or The ALS Association Orange County Chapter, 1232 Village Way Suite A, Santa Ana, Calif. 92705.
