BLAKESBURG — Charles Amos Proctor, 94, of Blakesburg, died Aug. 2, 2013, at his home.
He was born Aug. 3, 1918, in Blakesburg to Fred and Clara Walker Proctor.
He married Pearl Rose on Sept. 1, 1940, at Pleasant Home Church.
He farmed all his life with his sons, Dwayne and Dean, and grandson, Scott. He belonged to National Farmers Union and NFO. He did custom harvesting for many area neighbors and later in life hauled livestock to area sale barns for many years.
He had participated in and enjoyed watching tractor pulls all of his life. In 2001, he was inducted into the Iowa State Tractor Pulling Hall of Fame.
He thoroughly enjoyed playing cards with friends and family members.
Survivors include his wife, Pearl of Blakesburg; two sons, Dwayne (Betty) Proctor and Dean Proctor, both of Blakesburg; three grandchildren, Connie (Bud) Allison, Scott (Kate) Proctor and Lisa (Kerby) Hough; nine great-grandchildren, Jennifer Downey, Blaine (Callie) Proctor, Kris Proctor, Madison Brandt, Levi Johnston, Hunter Johnston, Clay Johnston, Kennedy Hough and Kaelyn Hough; and one great-great-grandson, Heath Proctor.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Mt. Zion Methodist Church; with Rev. Jim Ellis officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Open visitation begins 9 a.m. Sunday at Knedler Funeral Home in Blakesburg. Family will be present from 6-8 p.m. Monday.
