---- — OTTUMWA — Jerry Lee Davis, 81, of Branson, Mo., passed away Oct. 13, 2013, at his home.
Jerry was born Feb. 16, 1932, in Osceola. He was the son of Howard Russell Davis and Lucille "Sammie" (Wilson) Davis. He graduated from Ottumwa High School, where he was the All-State Basketball Player of the Year and became known as "The Cat" for his agility and speed. His team won the 1949 State Championship. He was awarded a full basketball scholarship to Iowa State. He graduated from Iowa State in 1955 with a bachelor's degree in business.
Jerry served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army. His occupation was an importer of automobile parts. Jerry married his loving wife Joan on July 1, 1995, in Lee's Summit, Mo. They had lived in Branson about 11 years, having moved from Kingsville, Mo. Jerry was a member of the United Methodist Church and had been involved in Kingsway United Methodist Church in Springfield, Mo., Lee's Summit UMC and Kimberling City UMC. He was currently attending church at Williams Memorial Chapel on the College of the Ozarks campus.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Russ and Sammie Davis; and one brother, Jack Davis.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Davis of Branson; daughters, Liz Davis of Overland Park, Kan.; Linda McClung and husband Dr. Mark McClung of Leawood, Kan; Christy Wohlbold and husband Darin Wohlbold of Columbia, Mo.; two stepchildren, Matthew Dougherty of St. Louis, Mo., and Shannon Dougherty and husband Chris Moenster of Dittmer, Mo.; two brothers, Jim Davis and wife Genny of Sequim, Wash., and Jon Davis and wife Luann of Mesa, Ariz.; sister, Vicki Telford and husband Neal Telford of Des Moines; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home, Branson, Mo., with burial to follow in Ozarks Memorial Park Cemetery, Branson, Mo.
Visitation will be from 5:30-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
