BLOOMFIELD — Charles Edward Dunlavy, 80, of Blakesburg, formerly of Bloomfield, died Oct. 13, 2013, at his home.
He was born Feb. 1, 1933, in Davis County to Joseph and Cleo L. Bullock Dunlavy. He married Zilpha Rees July 21, 1956, in Bloomfield.
He owned and operated Zeke’s Auto Repair in Ottumwa for 50 years. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Walter B. Schafer VFW Post #775 in Ottumwa and the Reed-Whisler Post #78 of the American Legion in Bloomfield.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Blake (Kathy) Dunlavy Roberts of Blair, Okla.; five daughters, Debra (Doc) Kulbeth of Olustee, Okla., Julia Bennett of Bloomfield, Laura (Kerry) McDonald of Blakesburg, Kelly (Nick) Smith of Sigourney and Deborah Lynne (Mike) Dillow of Bend, Ore.; 19 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a brother, Richard (Donna) Dunlavy of Mission, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter and a grandson.
Graveside services were held Friday at the Bethel Cemetery in Davis County; with the Gospel Ministry of Lezza Kuzzin Poetry (Debbie Dunlavy Kulbeth) officiating. Graveside military rites were performed by Reed-Whisler Post #78 of the American Legion.
A memorial has been established to Hospice of Wapello and Davis Counties and may be sent to the family at 3552 194th Ave., Blakesburg, Iowa 52536.
