OTTUMWA — Julie Marie Sanders Johnson, a wonderful, loving mother, formerly of Ottumwa, passed away Oct. 5, 2013, to join her soulmate and husband, Harvey Johnson Sr., and her son, Harvey Johnson Jr. in heaven.
Julie was raised in Ottumwa by Manuel and Alice Sanders and graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1955. She married her childhood sweetheart, Harvey Johnson Sr., and moved around the country until they settled in Houston, Texas. No matter where we lived, when she spoke of “home,” we always knew she was talking about Ottumwa. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family – both those that lived in Houston and her parents, her brother and sisters, as well as her in-laws, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a bright light to all who met her and were lucky enough to be included in her circle of friends. She will be missed greatly.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sue Ann and Frank Janoch IV. She also leaves behind her grandson, Christopher Nenno and his wife Samantha Sprouls-McGrath; her stepgrandsons and their spouses, Jason and Marissa Janoch, Justin Janoch and Joey and Courtney Janoch; and her much loved stepgrandchildren, Evelyn, Lilly, Hannah, Mia and Alyssa Janoch. Julie also is survived by her brother, Manuel “Bud” Sanders and his wife Jean; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Ronald Thorne and Doris and Bill Sprague; and her sisters-in-law, Doris Anderson and Lola Timmins.
A memorial service to celebrate her life was held Monday at the Scott Funeral Home, 1421 E. Hwy. 6, Alvin, Texas 77511.
The family asks that donations be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
