Greta Lou Moore

THORNBURG — Greta Lou McGimpsey Moore, 83, of Thornburg, passed away early in the morning of Oct. 17, 2013, at the MHP Hospice Services Serenity House in Oskaloosa.

Greta Lou McGimpsey Moore, daughter of Arthur Charles and Lorene Etta (Edmundson) McGimpsey, was born Aug. 18, 1930, in Thornburg. She also cooked for six years for the Thornburg School hot lunch program.

Greta Lou attended the Thornburg United Methodist Church as a child and joined the church at an early age. Greta Lou was an active member, teaching Sunday school and Bible school and attending United Methodist Women. After the Thornburg church closed in 2012, Greta Lou attended the What Cheer United Methodist Church, where she faithfully attended the Wednesday morning Bible Brunch. Greta Lou also belonged to a Friendship Club; this club met once a month for more that 60 years, and she developed deep and lasting friendships through the years at these monthly meetings.
