DOUDS — Nancy Helen Zeitler, 65, of Douds, departed from this life at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 19, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines surrounded by her husband and five daughters.
She was born Oct. 26, 1947, at Ottumwa to Waldo and Lorraine Blakeley Jannings and married Fred Zeitler on Nov. 7 1965, at the Christ United Methodist Church, Douds.
Nancy graduated from Fox Valley High School in 1965 and then attended Ottumwa Beauty Academy and worked as a beautician. Most of her life was spent devoted to being a farm wife, mother and grandmother. Later in life, she enjoyed operating Nancy Z’s Designs and Vintage Chic Boutique. She was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Douds, Van Buren County Pork Producers, Douds Chapter TTT, Valley Club, Farm Bureau Board Director, 4H Leader and enjoyed playing cards with friends, but most of all enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are her husband; five daughters, Jacque Greene (Terry) of Afton, Jana Roberts (Kelly) of Lancaster, Mo., Shelly Koenig (Paul) of Douds, twins Emily Odgaard (Chris) of Pleasant Hilland Angela Prevo (Kevin) of Bloomfield; 13 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; a brother, Jerry Jannings (Verna) of New Florence, Mo.; four sisters, Lois Bradley (Don) of Ottumwa, Sharon Johnson (Daryl) of Mason City, Vicky Besco of Davenport and Julie Buttell of Dallas, Texas; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Norma and James Zeitler; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Christ United Methodist Church, Douds; Pastor Mark Young officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Milton.
Visitation will open at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, with family present from 5-7 p.m.
