OTTUMWA — Adam Shane Long, 31, of Ottumwa, died November 6, 2013, in Waterloo.
He was born November 17, 1981, in Ottumwa to Donald D. and Ricci R. Thornton Long.
Adam was a 2000 graduate of Eddyville-Blakesburg High School and attended Indian Hills Community College, where he played baseball.
He had worked at John Deere Ottumwa Works, Kum & Go and at Hy-Vee, both north and south stores.
Adam was an avid baseball player and disc golfer, but most importantly he was a loving father. He had a tremendous sense of humor and made friends easily. He was a man with a big heart.
Surviving are his children, Christian Shane Long and Daisy Mae Long; the mother of his children, Brandi Terrebonne; his parents, Donnie (Teri) Long and Ricci (Richard) Rush, both of Ottumwa; grandmother, Shirley Thornton; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Richard Thornton, Harold and Thelma Long.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Hornback officiating. Cremation will follow the service.
Visitation begins at 10 a.m. Sunday with the family present from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Memorials may be made to the family for his children’s education or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
