BLOOMFIELD — Max York, 87, of Bloomfield, died June 25, 2013, at the Bloomfield Care Center.
He was born Dec. 4, 1925, in Davis County to Clem and Carrie Martin York. He married Vera D. Voorhies on Dec. 11, 1947, in Newton. She preceded him in death on Feb. 13, 2007. Max was a farmer and carpenter. In his youth, he played guitar, banjo, mandolin and harmonica. He was a member of the Savannah Christian Church. He enjoyed woodworking, playing cards and playing pool at the pool hall.
He is survived by a daughter, Trudy (Dave) Bennett of Bloomfield; two sons, Dale Russ York of Memphis, Mo., and Terry (Donna) York of Loveland, Colo.; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Dorothy Blackwell and Beulah Stockham, both of Bloomfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; three brothers, Sylvester, Joe, and Dickey York; and a sister, Gladys Vaught.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield; Kramer Smith officiating. Burial will be at the Darby Cemetery in Schuyler County, Mo.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the family present to greet friends from 5-7 p.m.
Memorials have been established to the Savannah Christian Church and Darby Cemetery.
