OTTUMWA —Viola G. Bruns, 93, entered her new life at 1:30 AM, Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at the University Hospitals in Iowa City. She had lived most of her adult life in Eldon, and had recently moved from Ottumwa to Columbus Junction.
Viola was born on November 26, 1919 in Glenville, Minn., a daughter of John and Celia Kral Pacovsky. On October 17, 1947 she married Oscar Bruns in Albert Lea, Minn. He preceded her in death in 2006.
Viola had worked for North-Western Bell Telephone Company in the Albert Lea area before moving to Eldon where she worked for the City of Eldon until her retirement in 1978. She was member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Ottumwa.
Survivors include one son James and wife Carla of Columbus Junction; one daughter Marcia of Burlington; four grandchildren; one step grandson; four great grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; and two brothers Joe and John, both of Minnesota.She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers Charley, Louis, and Clifford, and one sister Blanche.
Viola’s wishes were to be cremated. Graveside services and burial will be held at a later date at Greenewood Cemetery in Glenville, Minn.
