OTTUMWA — Edward “Ed” Swope, 77, 1725 W. Main St., died at 3:55 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2013, at Ridgewood Nursing and Rehab Center in Ottumwa.
Edward was born Jan. 11, 1936, in Ottumwa to Alonzo and Edna Bishop Swope. He was united in marriage to Nancy Lee Teasdale on May 6, 1956. She preceded him in death on March 16, 2013.
Edward and Nancy lived in the Ottumwa area all their lives. He worked for John Morrell and Co. for 17 years.
Surviving are his daughter, Sara (Ken) Bergmeier, of Agency; two sons, Bradley and Richard (Jessi) Swope, both of Ottumwa; eight grandchildren, Bradley, Jackie (Robert) Kendrick, Jessica, Megan, Patrick, Justin, Jacob and Magen; and two great-granddaughters, Raylynn and Liberty.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Shirley Irwin.
His body has been cremated. No services are planned.
A memorial has been established to the family.
