---- — OTTUMWA — Robert C. “Bob” Brown, 60, of Iowa City, formerly of Ottumwa, died at 7:09 a.m. April 8, 2013 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
He was born December 9, 1952 in Ottumwa to Robert F. and Edna Caldwell Brown.
A graduate of Ottumwa High School, Bob had been an Iowa City resident since 1985. He was a truck driver and worked in construction.
Bob loved fishing, hunting, NASCAR driver Kevin Harvik, and shooting the breeze. He was an ardent member of the NRA. He had a good and compassionate heart and felt things deeply.
Surviving are his children, Natasha (Scott Middleton) Brown of Iowa City, Bobbie (Cheryl) Brown of Cedar Rapids and Jeremiah Brown of Mt. Pleasant; two grandchildren, Riley and Sarah; his mother, Edna Brown of Iowa City; a sister, Vivien (Jerry) Harris of O’Fallon, MO; two half-sisters, Tammy Lynn and Kim; a nephew, Brian (Kendra) Harris; a niece, Shannon (Mark) Mitchell; four great-nephews; his companion of many years, Patti Wray of Iowa City. He had a million and one friends who, along with his family, will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert F. Brown and a great-niece, Brookelynn Mitchell.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home with Bill Payne officiating. Burial will be in McCormick Cemetery near Highland Center.
Visitation begins at 1 p.m. Wednesday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and also one hour prior to the service.
Memorials may be made to the family to be designated at a later time.
