OTTUMWA — William Neal “Bill” Hubbartt, 80, of 1212 Locust St., died at 9:42 p.m. April 8, 2013 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center, surrounded by his family.
He was born October 26, 1932, the son of Dennis G. and Reva I. Barker Hubbartt. He married Virginia Pumroy on December 15, 1957.
A 1950 graduate of Bloomfield High School, Bill served with the U. S. Coast Guard for 4 years. He earned a welding certificate from Indian Hills Community College and attended school in Omaha, NE for auto body work. He worked for General Motors in California in body work for a year before returning to Ottumwa. Bill worked at John Morrell & Co. until the plant closed in 1973 and then worked at John Deere Ottumwa Works, retiring in 1992.
Bill was an avid Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeye fan. He enjoyed fishing, camping and playing music.
Surviving is his wife, Virginia; a son, Tom (Michael Edwards) Hubbartt of Overland Park, KS; a daughter, Teresa (Mike) Huffman of Ottumwa; two grandchildren, Jeff Huffman of Ottumwa, Kyleigh Hubbartt (fiancé Joe Claybrook) of Ottumwa; two great-grandchildren, Isaac and Noah; two brothers, Glen (Sandra Hubbartt of Edwardsville, IL and Don (Linda) Hubbartt of Keosauqua; two sisters, Helen White of Polk City and Janice (Dorven) Bride of Ottumwa; a sister-in-law, Eloise Pumroy of Ottumwa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Timothy Paul Hubbartt and a brother-in-law, John White.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home. Cremation will follow the services.
Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Thursday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
