OTTUMWA — Patricia Jean Flanders, 87, of Drummond Township, passed away on June 22, 2014, at the Ashland Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Nov. 15, 1926, in Ottumwa, the daughter of Harvey and Genevieve (Sullivan) Brouhard.
She graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1946, and she married Wallace Leland Flanders, who preceded her in death in 1991. Patricia received her Bachelor of Education degree from Parsons College and went on to teach in Ottumwa, Duluth, Minnesota, Grand View, Wisconsin, Cable, Wisconsin, and Drummond Area Schools in Wisconsin. She retired in 1992.
Patricia was active in the Cable United Church of Christ and was a library trustee at Forest Lake Library in Cable, Wisconsin. She was also active in the Drummond School's Arts, Academic, Achievement Club. Many of her last winters were spent in Florida with her dear friend, Lois Jenkins. Family and friends were very important to her. She enjoyed the theater, reading and listening to classical music, especially opera.
She is survived by a son, Stephen (Diane) Flanders of Ashland, Wisconsin; daughter, Shelley Flanders of Duluth, Minnesota; and son, Frank Flanders of Ottumwa; four grandsons, Robert (Marianne) Flanders, Marc (Jana) Flanders, Richard Lee and Howie (JoAnne Hoven) Lee; two great-grandsons, Philipp and Jan Flanders, two great-granddaughters, Amanda Lee and Gabryella Hoven; a sister, Jean Fogle, and a brother, Byron Brouhard, both of Ottumwa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wallace Flanders; a sister, Paula Brouhard; and two brothers, Wayne and Jack Brouhard.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the United Church of Christ in Cable, Wisconsin.
Visitation will be held from 5-6 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
