OTTUMWA — Constance Cramblit Comfort, 94, of Urbandale and formerly of Ottumwa, died June 24, 2014, at Deerfield Retirement Community.
Connie was born in Ottumwa Feb. 16, 1920, to Lester R. and Caroline Glover.
She married William Cramblit Jr. Sept. 5, 1939. He died in 1995. She was a longtime resident of Ottumwa until moving to Urbandale in 2006. She married Frank B. Comfort Sept. 23, 2007. He died in 2012.
Connie received an AA degree from Stephens College, a BA magna cum laude from Parsons College and an MA from Goddard College. She was a member of Phi Theta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi scholastic societies. She taught in the Ottumwa Community and Cardinal School systems and at Ottumwa Heights College. Connie served on the boards of the Ottumwa Regional Health Center Foundation and the Wapello County Foundation. She was on the board of the Call Dickinson Lecture Series at Deerfield Retirement Center.
She is survived by a son, Robert (Debra) Cramblit of Kearney, Missouri; a daughter, Carolyn (John) Burrough of Johnston; a granddaughter, Amy (Brian )Tetmeyer; grandsons, Eric (Brenda) Burrough, Chris Cramblit and Jason (Becky) Cramblit. Connie is also survived by great-grandchildren, Hannah and Grant Tetmeyer, Lauren and Olivia Burrough, Tyler and Katy Cramblit, Mallory, Gavin and Parker Cramblit. Frank's daughters Debbi Miller of West Des Moines and Connie Marie Comfort of Des Moines also survive, as well as sisters-in-law Sally Foster and Joan Cramblit and a brother-in-law, Lue (Jerry) Cramblit.
A private memorial service and burial will be held in Ottumwa.
