OTTUMWA — George Glen Crouse, 92, formerly of 557 Hamilton, died at 5:29 a.m. June 25, 2014 at Ridgewood Nursing and Rehab Center.
He was born September 25, 1921 in Wapello County to Sherman and Avis Wiseman Crouse. He married Thelma Marcene Fenton on October 31, 1942.
A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1941, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. For 36 years he was a carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 1983.
He was a member of Northgate Alliance Church and a lifetime member of Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Surviving is his wife of 71 years, Thelma; two daughters, Georgia (Rick) Bagley and Marcia (Jody) Rupe; a son, John G. (Sandee) Crouse all of Ottumwa; 6 grandchildren; 8 great- grandchildren; two sisters, Wilma James of Albia and Edna Ward of Clearwater, FL; a brother, Earl Crouse of Blue Jay, CA.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Todd Bagley; 3 brothers, Robert, Charles and Paul Crouse; a sister, Mary Cook.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home with Terry Willhoit officiating.
Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery with military services conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion.
Visitation begins at 3 p.m. with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
