OTTUMWA — Alice "Faye" Fenner, 76, of Ottumwa, passed away July 1, 2014, at All Saints Hospital in Racine, Wisconsin.
She was born May 14, 1938, in Harlan County, Kentucky, the daughter of Pearl and Virgie (Swanson) Thomas. After moving to Kankakee, Alice met and married Lewis "Mike" Fenner, the love of her life. They had three sons, John, Eric and Troy. The Fenners eventually settled down in Ottumwa, where Faye worked and lived until March 2014 when she became to ill to live on her own anymore. She spent the last three months of her life living with her eldest son John in Racine, Wisconsin. Faye was blessed with 42 years of marriage with Mike before he died in 2004, raised her sons and got to spend time with her five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Faye always stayed busy and was employed at Clemons in Ottumwa up until March of this year. Prior to that, she worked in the human resources department at Excel. She enjoyed spending time with her family, visiting friends, was an excellent cook and loved going to the casino.
Faye is survived by here sons, John Fenner of Racine, Wisconsin, and Troy Fenner of San Jose, California; five grandchildren, Michael, Kory, Tiffany, Brandt and Melanie; five great-grandchildren; a brother, James Thomas of Ohio; a brother-in-law, Russell Berg of Bourbonnais; special relatives, Donna and Joh Morris of Bourbonnais, James Daugherty of Florida and countless friends in Ottumwa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Eric; one sister, Helen Berg of Bourbonnais; and two brothers, James Pearl Thomas and Donnie Thomas.
A private funeral service for the family will be held in Hutsonville, Illinois.
A time for family and friends will be held from 1-3 p.m. Sunday at the Bourbonnais Chapel of the Schreffler Life Story Funeral Home.
