OTTUMWA — Theresa Marie Payne, 85, of 17266 74th St. died at 11:54 p.m. July 10, 2014 at her home.
She was born July 9, 1929 to Myron L. and Virginia Fay Rabun VanFossan.
Theresa attended the Iowa Success Business School in Ottumwa. She was a member of Evangelistic Foursquare Church. From 1955 to 1964 was active in the sport of Archery, starting with the Wapello Chiefs Bowmen Club and later a charter member and secretary of the Ottumwa Archery Club. She was secretary of the Iowa State Archery Association for two years and was the Iowa State Women’s Instinctive Archery Champion for two years, both in Field and Target Archery competition.
Theresa is survived by her son, Charles “Chuck” (Melanie) Scott of Temple, Texas and her youngest daughter, Nadia J. (Sergio) Salan of Ottumwa; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her only sibling, a brother, Kenneth W. VanFossan; all grandparents; her eldest son, Jimmie K. Scott and her eldest daughter, Jackie L. Evitts.
Per her request, her body has been cremated. No services are planned. Inurnment will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery where her other family members are laid to rest.
