BLOOMFIELD — Wilbur Sammons, 89, of Unionville, died July 10, 2014, at the Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield.
He was born May 13, 1925 in Davis County to Perry “Pete” and Hester Workman Sammons. He was a farmer and worked for Morrell’s in Ottumwa for 23 years. Wilbur always took care of his family and loved spending time with them. He had a soft spot in his heart for all types of animals and enjoyed pitching horseshoes.
He is survived by a brother, Jerry Sammons of Bloomfield, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Harold, Henry, Kenneth, and Edwin Sammons; and two sisters, Rose Marie and Jannette Sammons.
Graveside services with Pastor Bill Eakins officiating will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Wesley Chapel North Cemetery in Davis County.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Sunday with the family present to greet friends from 4-5 p.m. at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
