DRAKESVILLE — Mabel M. Overturf, 81, of 17796 130th St., died at 4:20 a.m. July 12, 2014, at Hospice House in Ottumwa.
She was born June 29, 1933, in Wapello County to Erwin and Erma Boekoff Brooks. She married Paul Overturf on February 7, 1952.
Mabel graduated from Bloomfield High School and worked 30 years for the Davis County Farm Bureau.
She was a member of Zion Community Church of God, had been a 4-H leader and a member of the Mt. Zion Women's Group and Women of the Church of God.
Surviving are her husband, Paul; two daughters, Paula (Robert) Burress of Bloomfield, Nita (Jack) O’Laughlin of Ottumwa; a son, Wayne (Mary Jo) Overturf of Tucson, Arizona; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Rose (Bob) Widmar, Carolyn (Don) Cox and Susan Lappinen, all of Ottumwa; two brothers, Jack Brooks of Elkins, Arkansas, and David (Sandy) Brooks of Kansas City, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant great-granddaughter, Kinsley; a brother, Donald Brooks; and an infant sister, Ellen Brooks.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Community Church of God with Pastor Jesse Elkins officiating. Burial will be in Sherman Chapel Cemetery, Davis County.
Visitation will begin 10 a.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
