OTTUMWA — Ronald D. King, 65, of Ottumwa, died at 12:16 p.m. January 17, 2014, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
He was born November 4, 1948, in Ottumwa to Rev. George E. and Viola M. Gruwell King.
A graduate of Ottumwa High School, Ron served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1967 to 1973, including two years in Viet Nam as a scout sergeant. He had held various construction jobs.
He is survived by his mother, Viola King of Ottumwa; two brothers, Jerry (Jennie) King of Indianapolis, Indiana, Paul (Jo Walker) King of Ottumwa; two sisters, Jackie (Gary) Crow of Zolfo Springs, Florida, and Becky (Marty) Helgerson of Ottumwa; a special friend, Connie Surber and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. George King.
His body has been cremated.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2014, at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Oscar Shepherd officiating. Military services will be conducted by O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion and Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
