Nancy Teasdale Swope, 74, Ottumwa

OTTUMWA — Nancy Lee Swope, 74, of 1725 W. Main St. died at 6:04 a.m. March 16, 2013 at the Ridgewood Nursing and Rehab Center in Ottumwa.

She was born November 25, 1939 in Ottumwa to Joseph and Helen Lint Teasdale. She was united in marriage to Edward Eugene Swope on May 6, 1956. A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1957, she and her husband had lived in the Ottumwa area all of their lives.

Nancy was a lifetime member of Westminster Presbyterian Church where served as a Deacon, had been secretary and Sunday school teacher for twenty years. Nancy and Edward ran the West End Ball Field concession stand during the early1970’s. She and Frank Fisher helped start the West End Boosters and she was a Girl Scout leader. She helped take care of many families in the Ottumwa area, cleaned houses, and loved to cook and never meet a stranger. She was known by many as Aunt Nancy and always gave a hand to help.

Surviving is her husband Edward; daughter Sara (Ken) Bergmeier of Agency and two sons Bradley and Richard (Jessi) Swope both of Ottumwa; eight grandchildren Jackie, Bradley, Jessica, Megan, Patrick, Justin, Jacob and Magen; two great granddaughters, Raylynn and Liberty.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother Richard “Dick” Teasdale.

Her body has been cremated.

Memorial services will be 11a.m. Saturday at the Westminster Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jane Martinez officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
