Joseph Anderson

ALBIA — Joseph Charles Anderson, 45, of Albia, died April 24, 2013, at his home in Albia.

Joe was born Aug. 20, 1967, to Gerald and Patricia (Paris) Anderson in Ottumwa. He married Robyn Lewis on Feb. 28, 1987, in Albia. They were blessed with three children, Treana, Kara and J.D.

Joe graduated in 1985 from Albia High School. He began work as a journeyman in Dallas, Texas, laying water and sewer mains for future development projects. Prior to getting married, Joe moved back to Iowa, where he worked for Twister Chassis building sprint car frames and also Hometown Fabrications making various racing performance parts. He was also a very experienced welder and pipefitter, which allowed him to oversee many job sites throughout Iowa, including production and installation of large industrial machines.

Joe was a member of the Monroe County Little League Softball Association, umpiring, coaching and volunteering. He enjoyed spending time with his pets, hunting, fishing, golfing and riding his Harley-Davidson. Joe was very talented and a jack-of-all-trades, whether it be mechanic work, drawing cartoons or baking. He loved his family very much and was extremely proud of them all.

Joe is survived by his wife, Robyn of Albia; children, Treana (Matthew) Drost of Oskaloosa, Kara Anderson and J.D. Anderson, both of Albia; two grandsons, Kyler Joseph Drost and Ryker Joe Riddick; parents, Gerald and Patty Anderson of Albia; siblings, Gary Anderson of Centerville, Dave (Stacey) Anderson of Mineral Point, Wis., and Jami Anderson of Albia; mother-in-law, Dorothy Lewis of Albia; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Joe was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Helen Anderson and Henry and Ruby Paris; and a father-in-law, Rudolph “Doc” Lewis.

A memorial service will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Tharp Funeral Home in Albia. 

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Joe’s family present from 5-8 p.m. Saturday. It is asked that visitors wear blue jeans and Harley-Davidson apparel Saturday and Sunday, if possible.

Memorials may be made to Albia cross country, Albia wrestling or Monroe County Little League Association.
