Donald Dwight Ellison, 85, of Unionville, died Dec. 26, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Society, Ottumwa.
He was born Sept. 1, 1927, in Davis County to Walter C. and Alice M. Robb Ellison. He married Esthermae Stookesberry Feb. 10, 1957, in Bloomfield. She preceded him in death April 30, 2010.
Donald served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a farmer and worked at Vesco in Unionville.
He is survived by a son, Charles (Susan) Ellison of Eddyville; a daughter, Mary Kay (Dennis) Vanderheyden of Mystic; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Doris Burkhalter of Unionville; and a sister-in-law, Mabel Ellison of Oskaloosa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a son and daughter-in-law, Dwayne and Sheila Ellison; and three brothers, Harold, Carl and Claudie Ellison.
Graveside services with military rites performed by Wil-Rog-Mor Post #407 of the American Legion in Unionville will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Taylor Cemetery in Appanoose County; with Rev. Jesse Hill officiating.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Sunday with the family present to greet friends from 2-4 p.m. at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
