Marvin L. Roberts, 86, of rural Bloomfield, died Nov. 3, 2012, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines surrounded by his loving family.
He was born April 29, 1926, in Davis County to Louie Alva and Clara Vaughn Roberts. He married Betty Taylor Sept. 8, 1948, in Bloomfield. Marvin worked in the meat department at John Morrell in Ottumwa. He was a member of the Mid-American Coon Hunters Association and the Troy Saddle Club.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Gary (Debbie) Roberts of Pulaski and Scott (Melinda) Roberts of Lancaster, Mo.; two daughters, Linda (David) Armstrong of Oskaloosa and Pam Whitacre of Pella; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Kyle Roberts; four brothers, Alva, Earl, Johnie and Otis Roberts; and a sister, Erma Comer.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield; with Pastor David Albert officiating. Burial will be at the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. today at the funeral home with the family present to greet friends from 6-8 p.m.
A memorial has been established to the Davis County “A” Club.
