Leland Francis Davis Jr., 39, of 806 Clinton Ave., died at 6:15 a.m. April 15, 2011, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
He was born Dec. 5, 1971, in Ottumwa to Paul Cosgrove and Elizabeth Surber Davis.
A 1990 graduate of Ottumwa High School, he was 30 hours from obtaining a teaching degree from Buena Vista University at Indian Hills Community College. He was also taking electrician apprentice classes. He had worked for Guttermaster and Cargill Meat Solutions. Leland enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding motorcycles and bicycles.
Surviving are his mother, Elizabeth Davis of Ottumwa; his father, Paul Cosgrove of Ottumwa; his second mother, Cindy Frazier of Ottumwa; five sisters, Tina (Mark Riley) of Ottumwa, Crystal (Richard Sweetman) Brown of Newton, Brenda (Vhon) Steele of Oskaloosa, Leanna Davis of Centerville and Crystal (Shawn Hartman) Taylor of Ottumwa; a half sister, Debbie Briles of Ottumwa; two brothers, Jeffry (Tammy DeWitt) Davis of Ottumwa and Bobby (Diana) Taylor of Ottumwa; Jacob and Nikki Kyllonen, whom he helped raise; and father figure, Bob Taylor Sr.
He was preceded in death by his dad and namesake, Leland Davis Sr.; and two sisters, Mary Cosgrove and Janet Plyer.
His body has been cremated.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home; the Rev. Shane Frazier officiating. Inurnment will be in Shaul Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the family.
