---- — ALBIA — Lois Irene Mason, 99, of Albia, formerly of Moravia, died April 16, 2013, under the care of Monroe County Hospice at Monroe County Hospital in Albia.

Lois was born April 19, 1913, the adopted daughter of William Perry and Jessie (Potts) Davis. She attended West Point Country School growing up and later graduated from Moravia High School in 1931. She married Harold Mason on June 18, 1935, in Columbia, Mo., with Robert C. Holiday officiating. They shared 74 years together in Moravia before Harold preceded her in death on Nov.19, 2009.

Lois worked 12 years in the Moravia elementary school cafeteria, beginning in 1959. She was a member of the Senior Citizens’ Council, acting as secretary and treasurer, active member of the Monroe County Farm Bureau Women serving as chairman of Cultural Arts and was also a charter member of the “Sew & So” Club in Moravia. She enjoyed life and her many activities, as well as her devoted family and friends.

Lois is survived by a son, Richard (Colette) Mason of Ottumwa; three grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and nine stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; parents; and a brother, Ralph Burton Davis.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Albia; Pastor Neil Montz officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Moravia.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Friday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Albia with Lois’s family present during that time.
