OTTUMWA — Cecilia Louise Coon, 82, of Orem, Utah, formerly of Ottumwa, died April 16, 2013, in Orem, Utah, from natural causes.
She was born June 9, 1930, in Martinsburg, Iowa, to Cecil and Lela Bales James.
A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1948, Louise taught school in rural Wapello and Davis counties.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, quilting and spending time with her family and grandkids.
Surviving are three sons, James William Coon of Silverdale, Wash., Lloyd Marvin Coon and Charles Glen Coon of Orem, Utah; four grandchildren, Eric, Angela, Tina and Crystal Coon; four great-grandchildren, Brandon, Elyssa, Sully and Skyler Coon; and a great-great-grandson on the way; two sisters, Florence Lampson of Augusta, Kan., and Addie Kay (Norton) Giltner of Batavia; a brother, Harold (Willene) James of Ottumwa; and a sister-in-law, Phyllis James of Ottumwa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, George Pete Coon; and a brother, Vinton James.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Ottumwa with Bishop Ruston Ford officiating. Burial will be in Friends Cemetery in Richland.
Visitation is open after 1 p.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home.
