OTTUMWA — Edna Frances “Sandy” Champ, 81, of 102 W. Finley Ave., formerly of 167 N. Ransom St., died at 10:45 p.m. June 12, 2013, at Hospice House in Ottumwa.
She was born May 18, 1932, in Chester, Pa., to William H. and Rose Riggs Simmons.
A graduate of Chester High School, she had served with the U.S. Navy. Sandy had been a resident of Ottumwa since 1961.
Sandy had worked for 20 years at John Deere Ottumwa Works, retiring in 1989. She was a member of O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion.
Surviving are a daughter, Jamie Reyes of Abilene, Texas; a son, Wade (Brenda) Sampson of Ottumwa; five grandchildren, Dana Drewry of Ottumwa, James Palmer of Chicago, Ill., Melanie Shaw of Bloomfield, Dana Kizer of Newton and Cody Sampson of Bloomfield; six great-grandchildren, Isaac Cramer, Drake Drewry, Jaden Arnold, Drew Cramer, Isabella Sigala and Owen Drewry.
She was preceded in death by a brother, William Simmons; and a sister, Doris Simmons.
Her body has been cremated.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Eagle’s.
