BATAVIA — Gerald David “P.P.” Pratt, 65, of Batavia, went to be with his Lord on June 14, 2013, at his home.
Gerald David “P.P” Pratt was born in Batavia to Porter W. and Mary E. Earls Pratt. He married Nancy Elizabeth Tucker on Sept. 23, 1967, at the Gospel Light House Church in Batavia.
Gerald graduated from Cardinal High School. He worked for Louden Company for some time before working for John Deere for 30 years as a machinist. After retiring in 2002, his passion was running P.P.’s Gunshop in Batavia. His hobbies and interests included the United Auto Workers Union and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching New York Yankees baseball. He made sure to give each one of his grandchildren a nickname that he called them by. He was dearly loved by his family and friends.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Nancy Pratt of Batavia; four daughters and families, Lisa (Aydro Sican) Pratt of Agency, Lori Pratt of Ottumwa, Christine (Mike) Snyder of Iroquois, S.D., Mary (Jesus Cortez) Pratt of Oskaloosa; 11 grandchildren, Lindsay, Casey, Chance Gustafson, Lisseth and Zane Sican, Mallery and Amelia Cochran, Cameron and Shaley Snyder, Devin and Kristian Cortez; one great-grandchild, Naomi; one brother and one sister, Manly Pratt of Floris and Joann Mills of Batavia; also his ever-faithful chocolate lab, Duke Ray Pratt.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Glenn and Floyd Pratt.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Living Hope Bible Church in Eldon; Pastor Dave Albert officiating. Burial will be in Batavia Cemetery.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.
