OTTUMWA — Dorothy Mae Canny, 86, of Ottumwa, died at 12:38 p.m. June 21, 2013, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
She was born Nov. 9, 1926, in Ottumwa to Benjamin Franklin and Zadie Rown Agee. She married Clarence “Pete” Canny on Nov. 20, 1955. He preceded her in death on May 10, 1984.
A resident of Ottumwa all her life, she graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1944. She worked 32 years for Wapello County Motor Vehicle Department, retiring in 1986.
She was a member of Davis Street Christian Church, a 50-year member of Ottumwa Chapter #112 Order of The Eastern Star and O.B. Nelson Unit #3 American Legion Auxillary.
Surviving are two sons, Bryan Douglas (Nancy) Canny and James R. (Dinah) Canny, both of Ottumwa; two grandchildren, Bryan Canny of Ottumwa, and Crystal (Joe) Trachsel of Amana; three stepgrandchildren, Russell Canny and Brenda Schnoor of Ottumwa, and Troy Canny of Waterloo; three great-grandchildren, five stepgreat-grandchildren, three stepgreat-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lucille Teeter of Fairfield, Betty Lowe and Martha Fort, both of Ottumwa; and a brother Emmett (Esther) Agee of Ottumwa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Cynthia Leanne Canny; six brothers, Roy, Orville, Ralph, Harold, Everett and Don Agee; and a sister, Nellie Stuehm.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. James H. Wakelin officiating. Burial was in Shaul Cemetery.
